CHPP and Facilities
Cook Mine’s Coal Handling and Preparation Plant (CHPP), Train Load Out (TLO) and associated facilities are located at the site of the former Leichhardt Colliery.
The CHPP’s nominal capacity is 500 t/h. Coal is classified through dense medium cyclones, spirals and flotation circuits to separate coking and thermal coal products from the feed coal. Upgrades completed to 2015 include a new truck unloading facility, coal classification and sizing through a rotary breaker and a new fines coal processing section. Coal rejects are placed in a dedicated storage facility adjacent to the CHPP.
The balloon loop and TLO facilities connect through Aurizon’s Blackwater rail corridor to export terminals at the Port of Gladstone. Wiggins Island Coal Export Terminal (WICET) and RG Tanna Terminal.
